What maintenance does a BajaMate system require?
Rinse exposed components with fresh water, clean with mild soap and a soft cloth, keep sleeves capped when they are not in use, inspect fasteners and seals seasonally, close umbrellas during wind or whenever unattended, and store fabric completely dry. Leave 316 stainless components installed underwater when the pool chemistry is properly maintained; remove aluminum components after temporary pool-water exposure, then rinse and dry them.
BajaMate products use different materials because each part performs a different job. The 316 stainless Foundation and Anchor components are intended for demanding in-pool installations. Aluminum components are lighter and ideal for decks, patios, and removable setups, but they are not intended for permanent underwater storage.
Pool chemistry, wind exposure, installation quality, contact between dissimilar metals, and storage conditions can affect product life. Maintenance does not need to be complicated, but it should be consistent.
Maintenance Schedule
A simple routine for the entire BajaMate system.
After Pool Use
Rinse and reset.
Rinse splash-exposed metal and silicone with fresh water, wipe up food and drink spills, close the umbrella, and remove aluminum components that will not remain in a dry-side location.
Weekly in Active Season
Clean the surfaces.
Wash visible metal, tabletop, cup holders, placemats, and canopy spots with mild soap and fresh water. Remove pollen, sunscreen, drink residue, and mineral deposits before they build up.
Monthly
Inspect the system.
Check fasteners, reducer rings, tightening caps, sleeve caps, O-rings, table legs, umbrella hardware, canopy pockets, crank operation, tilt components, and the solar charging area.
End of Season
Clean, dry, and store.
Remove seasonal components, rinse them thoroughly, allow every part and fabric surface to dry completely, label loose hardware, reinstall sleeve caps, and store products away from standing water and direct chemical exposure.
Foundation Sleeve Care
Keep the installed sleeve clean, sealed, and ready.
A Foundation sleeve is the permanent connection in the pool, deck, patio, or hardscape. Care focuses on keeping the opening free of debris, protecting the threadless cap and O-ring, and maintaining the correct pool environment around the installed metal.

Anchor Adapter Care
Match the maintenance to the Anchor material.
The Anchor fits into a compatible sleeve and creates the larger, taller mounting point used by the umbrella and Gather table. Reducer rings, the tightening cap, stabilizing plate, adapter tube, and lower pin should remain clean enough to seat and release without force.

Before reinstalling an Anchor
Gather Table Care
Keep the aluminum tabletop above the waterline.
The 24-inch Gather tabletop, aluminum legs, stainless hardware, silicone cup holders, and optional silicone placemats are splash-safe poolside components. The tabletop and legs are not intended for permanent underwater storage.
Umbrella, Canopy & Solar Care
Close first. Clean gently. Store completely dry.
Wind and wet storage cause more avoidable umbrella damage than ordinary poolside use. Close and secure the umbrella during strong winds, storms, and whenever the pool area is unattended. Never rely on the Anchor alone to protect an open canopy from unsafe weather.

An anchored umbrella must still be closed in unsafe weather.
The Anchor stabilizes the pole at the sleeve, but a large open canopy still creates substantial wind load. Close the umbrella during gusty conditions, storms, or whenever the system is unattended. Remove or secure it for severe weather and seasonal shutdown.

Pool Chemistry & Material Protection
Marine-grade materials still require a properly maintained pool.
316 stainless steel is designed for permanent in-pool use, but improper pH, alkalinity, sanitizer levels, salt concentration, shock treatment, grounding, bonding, galvanic contact, or stray electrical current can damage even high-quality pool hardware. Aluminum is more sensitive to prolonged water and chemical exposure and must not be treated as a permanent underwater material.

What cleaner should I use on BajaMate products?

Can a 316 stainless Anchor remain underwater?

Can an aluminum Anchor remain underwater?
No. Aluminum Anchors are intended primarily for decks, patios, hardscape, landscapes, and temporary water exposure. After pool-water use, remove the aluminum component, rinse it with fresh water, and dry it before storage.
Can the Gather tabletop remain underwater?
No. The aluminum tabletop and legs are designed to remain above the waterline. They are splash-safe but are not intended for permanent submersion or prolonged underwater storage.
How should I clean the silicone cup holders and placemats?
Remove them from the tabletop, rinse with fresh water, wash with mild soap and a soft cloth, and allow them to air-dry before reinstalling. Avoid bleach and harsh solvents.
Should I leave the umbrella open when I am not using it?
No. Close and secure the umbrella during strong winds, storms, and whenever the pool area is unattended. Remove or protect the umbrella during severe weather and off-season storage.
How should the canopy be stored?
Clean the canopy gently, rinse it, and allow it to dry completely before extended closure or storage. Never fold or store the canopy while wet, and protect it from sharp objects, rodents, standing water, and roof leaks.
What should I do if the sleeve cap or Anchor is stuck?
Do not force the component. Rinse away grit and deposits, clean the accessible sealing surfaces, and inspect the O-ring, cap, sleeve, and lower adapter pin. Contact BajaMate with photographs if the part still will not release or seat correctly.
Does maintenance affect warranty coverage?
BajaMate’s limited warranty requires products to be properly selected, installed, used, maintained, and stored. Damage from improper pool chemistry, permanent underwater use of aluminum, wind, neglect, misuse, or improper installation is not considered a qualifying manufacturing defect.
