We live for pool time

Why Bajamate?

Poolside Luxury, Within Reach

We wanted more than an umbrella standing in the middle of the pool. We wanted a place to gather.

Like many pool owners, we discovered that the standard sleeve installed in a Baja shelf was too small, too limiting, and rarely designed for the way people actually use their outdoor space.

BajaMate began with one simple goal: engineer a stronger and more adaptable connection between the pool, the umbrella, and everything that makes time outdoors more enjoyable.

The Problem

The standard pool sleeve was never designed for real shade.

Most Baja shelf sleeves are built around a small plastic insert intended for lightweight umbrellas. Over time, the sleeve cracks, the cap seizes, and pool owners are left with limited shade and very few replacement options.

FRAGILE HARDWARE

Plastic sleeves were never built to last.

Standard Baja shelf sleeves are often made from lightweight plastic that becomes brittle after years of sun, water, and pool chemicals. As the material ages, it can discolor, loosen, crack, and leave the umbrella feeling unstable.

LIMITED SHADE

A small sleeve limits you to a small umbrella.

The narrow factory opening only accommodates lightweight umbrella poles, forcing homeowners to settle for undersized shade. The result is less coverage, less stability, and an umbrella that feels out of proportion with the pool.

FAILED Product

The plastic cap degrades and becomes stuck.

Over time, the removable center cap can swell, fade, and seize inside the sleeve. What should lift out easily may eventually require pliers or other tools, often damaging the cap further during removal.

THE BAJAMATE FIX

Upgrade the sleeve you have—or replace it for good.

The BajaMate adapter is designed to install directly into the standard plastic sleeve already built into your pool. It creates a stronger, more versatile foundation for larger umbrellas, in-pool tables, and modular accessories—without requiring pool reconstruction. For new installations or damaged sleeves, BajaMate also offers durable metal sleeves that eliminate the fragile plastic component entirely.

Designed to fit existing plastic sleeves.

The BajaMate adapter drops into the factory sleeve already installed in most Baja shelves, transforming an undersized umbrella opening into a stable foundation for larger shade systems and accessories.

Replace broken plastic with a permanent upgrade.

When the original plastic sleeve is cracked, loose, or beyond repair, BajaMate metal sleeves provide a stronger replacement foundation. Our stainless steel sleeve is built for full-time in-pool use and eliminates the weak point altogether.

Create a Baja shelf built for gathering.

Once the foundation is solved, the Baja shelf becomes far more usable. Add an oversized umbrella for meaningful shade, expand with an in-pool table, and create a poolside setup designed for relaxing, entertaining, and spending more time in the water.

HOW BAJAMATE BEGAN

It began with a problem the pool industry had learned to accept.

When Randy’s pool was built, co-owner and pool builder Scott explained why larger umbrella sleeves were not installed in Baja shelves: the additional leverage could damage or crack the surrounding pebble finish.

Instead of accepting a smaller umbrella and limited shade, Randy and Scott began looking at the problem differently. The answer was not simply a larger sleeve. It was a new adapter system that could fit into the existing pool sleeve while creating a stronger, more versatile foundation above it.

That idea became the original BajaMate adapter.

From there, the system continued to evolve. The adapter led to the modular in-pool table, followed by a dedicated basketball-hoop sleeve. Development has now expanded into bar-top seating and additional accessories designed around the same adaptable foundation.

What began as a solution for one pool has become a patented platform for transforming underused Baja shelves into functional spaces for shade, dining, recreation, and gathering. It is a simple idea in hindsight—but one the industry had overlooked.

One foundation. An expanding world of possibilities.
