If the existing sleeve is structurally usable, choose the Anchor by water exposure, required mounting height, and umbrella pole fit. Permanent in-pool use points to 316 stainless steel. Dry-side deck and patio installations can use aluminum. The 18-inch Anchor is generally the shallower choice; the 26-inch Anchor adds height for deeper installations. Compatible umbrella poles must be round, straight, and no larger than 2.00 inches OD.
Is the existing sleeve structurally usable?
If it is solid, compatible, and reasonably aligned, keep it and use an Anchor. If it is cracked, crushed, loose, severely misaligned, or otherwise unsuitable for a reliable connection, address the Foundation first.
Will the Anchor stay submerged?
Choose 316 stainless steel for permanent in-pool use. Choose aluminum primarily for pool decks, patios, hardscape, landscape, dry-side, splash-zone, and other installations where it will not remain continuously submerged.

The 18-inch Anchor is generally best for a shallower, single-step-down Baja shelf. The 26-inch Anchor is generally best for a deeper, two-step-down shelf or an installation that needs additional mounting height.

Use an Anchor
Existing sleeve is usable.
A compatible builder-installed plastic sleeve does not need to be torn out simply because the umbrella pole you want is larger. The BajaMate Anchor inserts into the sleeve and creates a larger, raised mounting point above the finished surface.
Repair or Replace First
Existing sleeve is structurally unsuitable.
Consider replacement when the sleeve is cracked, crushed, loose, severely misaligned, obstructed beyond practical cleaning, or otherwise unable to provide a dependable lower connection.
A BajaMate Foundation is a replacement or new-construction mounting sleeve. It does not slide into the old plastic sleeve. When the old sleeve remains usable, the Anchor is the component that inserts into it.

These dimensions describe the Anchor tube and cap assembly. They are not the finished Gather tabletop height and are not the total height of the installed umbrella.
Water depth and site geometry still matter. If your pool does not match the typical single-step or two-step layout, measure the exact installation before ordering.
Decision 04 — Umbrella Pole
Measure the umbrella pole before you buy the umbrella.
Compatible BajaMate Anchor configurations support round, straight center-pole umbrellas up to 2.00 inches outside diameter maximum. A 2.5-inch pole is too large for the current Anchor system.
